Daily Quotes Take Over on This Week’s Fastest-Growing Facebook Apps by MAU
Posted by Chris Morrison, under Applications, Facebook, Metrics
Several of the top-gaining apps from last week have reappeared on this week’s list of fastest-gaining Facebook apps by monthly active users. Name Analyzer, Frases Diarias, phrases 4 fun and several others are multi-week growers that have quickly become quite sizable.
Of course, you can see on the list below that MindJolt Games, a game portal, is the top entry with 1.8 million new MAU. MindJolt lost a lot of players earlier in the spring — along with most other popular games. However, MindJolt is somewhat unique in actually regaining those players, perhaps because it’s a collection of many games rather than a single one.
We’ll discuss the games in more depth over at Inside Social Games. Here’s the full AppData list:

The first non-game app is Name Analyzer, which is approaching three million users. As we’ve pointed out before, there are at least four very similar apps, all called Name Analyzer. However, the one you see above is now by far the largest.
Frases Diarias, the next app down, is outright huge — it’s now the 32nd largest app on Facebook. The quote-of-the-day app, in Spanish, hasn’t let a week go by without picking up another million users. At this point, it is installed on 7.3 million accounts, over 10 percent of the entire Spanish-speaking userbase on Facebook. Phrases 4 fun, below, is in a similar category, but much smaller.

At number seven, Facebook (for iPhone) is now the only mobile app regularly appearing in the top 20. Facebook for BlackBerry, this week unseen at number 24, has slowed significantly, while Facebook’s feature-phone app Mobile has actually declined somewhat over the past month.
Finally, Yearbook, has been picking up speed over the past month or so. But the app, which redirects users to its own site, appears to be charging its users about $30 per year to plan reunions, see where former classmates live and see when they get married — all things that Facebook accomplishes quite well on its own. It seems unlikely that Yearbook will be able to succeed, in the long run, with such tactics.
